Overview
TAQA owns and operates a 250 MW lignite-based thermal power plant in Neyveli in the state of Tamil Nadu. We generate and sell the power to the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO), a power generation and distribution company owned by Government of Tamil Nadu.

Operations
We own and operate a 250 MW lignite-fired power plant, located in Neyveli in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, approximately 210 km south of Chennai. The plant has been in operation since 2002 and produced 1,364 GWh of power in 2019. TAQA is responsible for the maintenance of the plant and related facilities.
We source lignite from adjoining opencast lignite mine through a long-term fuel supply agreement. All of the power we generate is supplied to TANGEDCO under a 30-year Power Purchase Agreement.
Governance
TAQA sells the entire power capacity of the Neyveli plant to TANGEDCO, the local state government-owned utility, under a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
